We are not satisfied with what they have said."We hope the police will investigate those who did this immediately. We are seeing more and more people going overboard (with their comments) and causing disunity... this must be curbed."We hope those people responsible will face the music for what they did," he told the media after he and his fellow committee member lodged police reports at the northeast district police headquarters in Penang. In his report, Rizuad said he read an article online yesterday about people threatening to "kill" Ismail. The alleged threats were made in Chinese on a Facebook wall by certain individuals. In the Facebook posting, he said several social media users had remarked "Melayu Stupid", "You think you can live like this?", "chop into bits", and "That day increase petrol price, now reduce price but still blame us. Let's kill him."Ismail drew flak after he reportedly posted a status on Facebook urging Malay consumers to boycott Chinese businesses to fight profiteering. He said that Malay consumers had a role in helping the government fight profiteers by using their collective power to lower the prices of goods."Forgive me for sharing my views, but besides the Ministry of Domestic Trade, Cooperatives and Consumerism, which uses the Price Control Act and the Anti-Profiteering Act to act against traders who raise their prices indiscriminately, the greatest power lies with the consumers."The majority of consumers are Malay, Chinese are a minority, if the Malays boycott their businesses, they will surely have no choice but to reduce their prices," he said in the post.At the sane time, the minister is also embroiled in a controversial allegation he made against Perak DAP adviser Datuk Ngeh Koo Ham, whom he claimed had shares in the popular OldTown White Coffee cafe chain owned by OldTown Bhd."Malays are still refusing to boycott (OldTown White Coffee) what more when its owner is said to be the DAP Ngeh family of Perak, who are known to be anti-Islam."As long as the Malays don't change, the Chinese will take the opportunity to oppress the Malays," he said.Rizuad said even though Perkasa had been accused of being a racist and extremist group, its members have never made remarks like threatening to kill someone. He also defended Ismail for highlighting the issue of profiteering businesses that still took advantage of consumers despite the reduced fuel prices."We support his call to boycott profiteering businesses... all businesses regardless of who runs them."Ismail's remark was not racist. It was just manipulated by certain quarters," he said.Rizuad also urged Domestic Trade, Cooperatives and Consumerism Minister Datuk Seri Hasan Malek to look at the issue and take the necessary actions to safeguard the interests of consumers. – February 5, 2015
